Personally, if SC offered a full ride merit scholarship I would encourage him to go there. Having a bunch of student loans is not be worth it. Besides, he can always start his career or go to grad school in NYC if he’s still interested. Nice “problem” to have:) Good luck!</p>
<p>My S was in a similar situation several years ago. He received a substantial financial aid package from SCU shortly after his acceptance (he applied EA); and in February a lesser package from Fordham (he did not apply EA). Since Fordham was his preference, we requested a re-evaluation from the financial aid office - we told them about the SCU offer. They requested to see his offer from SCU, and did subsequently offer a better package, but still a few thousand dollars below SCU’s. This is just fyi, maybe we should have approached Fordham’s financial aid office BEFORE the initial offer was sent out. In any case, we did want to let them know the amount of financial aid was critical in his (our) decision as to where he was going to go. Good luck and yes, nice “problem” since they’re both wonderful schools.</p>
