how do you find out about scholarships? where do you go to check?
@quoderatuhhh Lincoln Center or Rose Hill?
That was daughter accepted at Gabelli L.C lol
historically, do many EA deferrals actually make it into Gabelli?
Accepted to Lincoln Center!
31 Composite ACT
3.6 unweighted GPA
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I’m still waiting on other schools, but there is a 50% chance I will not attend. Best of luck to those deferred and those continuing the college search!
Even though Fordham might not be possible since there is no merit showing, here’s his stats–Accepted to Gabelli.
SAT 1480 out of 1600. 3.85 GPA unweighted. NHS, 4 APs, 4 year varsity athlete, and played sports all 3 seasons each year. 2 paid summer jobs as well as lots of volunteer hours. Excellent essay and recommendations, highly rated public high school. Hoping merit will ne added but thinking he just might not have received any. Unfortunately it would make attending out of the question as not expecting to receive need based aid. Congratulations to everyone on your acceptances
Accepted today to Rose Hill!
Old Sat composite: 2010
weighted gpa: 3.65
@IslandDadinWa So the tricky thing about Fordham is that they will sometimes offer acceptance without the housing if you are within a “commuting” distance. If they offer you the housing it is then guaranteed for four years. There is no financial component to the housing.
Early Decision applicants received merit awards, but Early Action won’t receive these until February.
I actually was admitted EA and received merit. I bet they will award more in February like you said though.
Actually… ED received merit and financial aid awards today but EA also received merit awards today. EA will not receive financial aid or the exact amounts of some merit awards until Feb. If an ED or EA applicant was awarded a merit scholarship direct from the university that applicant will know today. It will say it clearly within the paragraph below “congratulations”.
is there a chance that ea ppl who ddnt get scholarships today will get them in feb??
@GKalisz I was very confused as weel! My stats seem very similar to yours (16% of my class, 31 ACT, leadership positions, volunteering). If you don’t mind me asking, where did you apply & what program? I applied to Gabelli School of Business, Rose Hill
@candjsdad - Go to my.fordham.edu and click on “new users” to claim account. Follow the directions, it’s been a while for me (my daughter is graduating in May), and tabs will be showing (Financial Aid, Accepted or Admitted Student", I forget). There might be a link on that page that says “Admissions Decision” and click on that and you fill see the information there.
In 2013, when we received our RD outcome, when I checked my.fordham for decision info, the Financial Aid tab was up and that’s when I saw all of her financial aid info about an hour before the formal letter was online. But this was for RD, not EA and I think this is the second year for ED.
Good luck to you and everyone. This is always an exciting and stressful time.
@IslandDadinWa - What exactly do you mean by “financial component to it”? The dorms have basically the same cost since the meal plan is mandatory in the freshman dorms, but you will be charged a reduced fee if placed in a “forced triple”. Which means a room that normally houses two students, will now house 3.
@MomTheChauffer We tried that yesterday. He had claimed his account a few days ago when some people were seeing scholarship information. But everything still said “applicant.” I’ve e-mailed our admin rep. We’ll see what she has to say. I’m really confused.
Got into Gabelli School of Business at Rose Hill with:
SAT: 1320
3.65 GPA,
5 APs (4 on exams)
8 Honors
Several extracurriculars including starting a service club and varsity team captain
Thank you @hollygolightly1 .
@MomTheChauffer, by “financial component” I meant to infer that housing would be paid for by the school as an alternative to the standard merit aid award or scholarship. There was no mention of a scholarship in her online acceptance letter.
Fordham confirmed for me that my son is one of a few (and it sounds like very few) who haven’t received a decision yet. I’m guessing that is related to scholarship decisions. I was getting pretty concerned that they considered something about his application incomplete.
