Fordham 2023 likely letters

Hey guys!!! I applied EA to Fordham University a little over a month ago, and I’m anxiously waiting for a decision! After looking at past threads and talking to students, I’ve discovered that Fordham often sends likely letters around thanksgiving! Last year, they sent them out on thanksgiving day! I’m not sure if this is true, but I’ve heard that they basically just tell you that you’ve likely been admitted before the official decision day! I wanted to start this thread, so we could chance each other and also talk about whether we got likely letters when the day arrives (since thanksgiving is coming up soon)!

Thanks, would it be an email? I’ve heard of “likely letters” but the concept sounds strange to me. Do people ever receive them and NOT get accepted? If not, if they are going to send a likely letter, why not just send the acceptance? Or is it because it takes longer to do the financial aid offer, so they like to send out the “likely” as an acceptance before the aid package is ready?

@TS0104 after looking at other threads from past years, it seems as though people receive emails! I’ve never heard of someone receiving one and then not getting accepted, but I do know that there are many who do not receive one that do get accepted. It seems a bit random to me, honestly.

In the past couple of years, the likely letters seemed to correspond to locations where Fordham was holding a December President’s reception and therefore want to give advance notice to students they will be admitting. We live in Southern California, and the President reception was not until January, so my daughter did not receive a likely letter, but was admitted EA with a merit scholarship. We did go to the Presidential reception and it was quite moving. Father McShane really makes the admitted students feel wanted.

@scorekeeper1 ohh okay that answers a few of my questions, so thank you! Just wondering, which other locations are these receptions typically held? Any in CT that you know of?

@am2727 - According to Fordham’s website, there is a Presidential Reception in Hartford on December 18th. Looks like it is an alumni event but they may invite prospective applicants.

My daughter also applied EA to Fordham and it is her No. 1 school. We are just outside of Hartford.

@tommc1 i’m right outside of Hartford as well! I live in Avon! I’m hoping that since we’re close to the reception, it may be a good sign.

@am2727 @tommc1 it was an alumni event that my daughter and other admitted students were invited to. Good luck and I hope you get likely letters.

Thank you so much! @scorekeeper1

Do international students also receive likely letters/emails?

Did anyone get the likely letter today? Also: happy Thanksgiving!

@Sidvin24 I haven’t gotten anything yet! I’m still hoping for either tonight or tomorrow

I haven’t gotten anything yet! They came out on November 23rd last year so maybe they will come out tomorrow?

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking!

Nothing today

They usually release them in the afternoon (I’ve seen people receive them in the past anywhere from 3 pm to 8 pm)! And Fordham usually starts sending them on the 23rd! Everyone get ready haha!

Has anyone received anything yet?

Not yet

I was hoping that they’d starting sending them tonight since they’ve sent them on the 23rd in the past…who knows though. It would be great if they did

Isn’t the school closed today? Would they send them out on a non school day?
