Fordham Class of 2013/2017

I talked to the Adm office today and they said that the Presidential scholarship won’t be decided until end of March/April 1, after they have seen the RD applicant pool also.

^ That does explain it.

For whoever asked, this past summer they offered 3 summer orientation days. 1 day was in June and then 2 in July, all were on Mondays.

Alright so I applied Early Action, my online applicant page says everything has been received, but I have yet to hear ANYTHING from them. I emailed admissions and they haven’t responded, I called them and the line was busy. Uh.

@gardy24 Thank you!

lawrencejoao: We are in the same situation. My daughter applied early and we have heard nothing from admissions. Everything is in according to her online profile. She has heard from the dance department and has been granted an audition but we are reluctant to travel and audition if she has not been accepted to the school. Kind of frustrating.

Had really good grades junior year, taking most difficult classes I can, good writer, submitted an art portfolio.
I heard back December 19th and received the thing about SFAS.

artobsessed: will you be going to Lincoln Center or Rose Hill? Just curious, as there seem to be a lot of nice young people who’ve posted that would be great classmates for my daughter to look forward to meeting (she will be going to the LC campus.)

Honestly, this whole lack of response thing is really disrespectful and left a very poor taste in my mouth regarding Fordham. I would really just like a decision.

To those who know they got the VP Scholarship: how did you find out? Was it right in the acceptance letter? My D’s didn’t say anything. Could that mean she’s getting the President’s scholarship, which won’t be announced until like April? Her “personalized report” from the FAFSA service/Fordham showed $24,000 per year in merit aid. That’s just not enough. Is there still hope.

How do you find out if you receive merit aid?

ElaineL, I notice your daughter is a dancer. I am not sure if dancers (BFA program) are similar to theater majors (auditioned BA program), but admission is conditional on acceptance to the artistic program. It’s not like other schools where admission is a two-part process and you get an academic acceptance first. My daughter applied last year in time for the deadline for theater (earlier than RD) and had to wait until early March, a few weeks after her audition, for acceptance. This was true of all the theater kids. So, you might not hear about an academic acceptance separately from an artistic decision.

lawrencejoao and ElaineL: you need to call the admissions office to find out what has happened. if you applied by the early action deadline, you should have received your response.

glassharmonica, I suspect you are correct. I have a call in to the admissions office where I am sure they will confirm what you wrote. We will have to think about how this fits for us. Every other program has sent academic acceptance and artistic separately. We will have to incur travel expenses to the audition. Not that we didn’t travel for other auditions but it made a difference knowing that she had been accepted and had academic scholarship.

When are RD applicants notified???

When will be getting notice on any merit aid?

@termah420
End of March, most probably.

ElaineL, my sense with Fordham is that the artistic decision can override the academic decision.It might be worth a call to the dance department as well as admissions to ask about this.

termah420, last year my daughter heard on March 8. It was the first acceptance she received from a non-rolling admissions school and came in earlier than we had expected. But other kids heard over the following week or so-- I think they send out decisions in waves.

hello everyone! I applied RD, so I just thought that I’ld pop in :)
