Tried to call Fordham. They are closed for the holiday. No financial package yet. They dont re-open until Tuesday. Are people still waiting on FA packages?

Nothing in the mail, but it’s up on the portal and it didn’t change from the estimate, sadly. I sent off an email to FA (got an out of office reply from the admissions rep who I cc’d). So the appeal is in. I guess my D will make plans for her #2 and see what happens with Fordham. Would love to keep communicating with anyone who appeals.

Not even her scholarship is on the portal. Its a little frustrating.

Hi GCmom415, last week I called FA for the same reason, they transferred me to an Admissions counselor and he explained that part of the portal would be down for awhile but he said not to worry if you have a scholarship offer that will not change. I can now view my daughter’s award again so keep checking but we are also waiting for final letter in mail.

Does anyone know if Fordham is willing to give anymore money? I got a scholarship but it is not nearly enough to be a reasonable tuition and I heard that if you call certain schools they agree to give you more money.

Thank you kayf, sovereign, mongo, artobsessed, and muf for your considerate and thoughtful replies. You have cleared some things up for me.

I was also accepted to UVA and W&M, so my decision will be even harder. I may make a larger thread elsewhere, but I am glad to hear Fordham’s point of view.

Looks like I won’t be able to swing Fordham. So off to Maryland for me, unless Georgetown admits me. I was leaning toward Maryland anyway, but Fordham would have been a great option.

Still no word and I’m from Manhattan…

I got my financial package last week. They offered me money, but I need to appeal otherwise I can’t go.

rejected or waitlisted at all of the schools (including ivies and seven sisters) i applied to that meet need… so my decision will weigh heavily on whether or not fordham will give more aid… i wrote a pretty enticing letter since many of my merits have improved.
i love new york city and i have to make this work…

so just to make sure: the Fordham Presidential Scholarships (full tuition + room and board) were already awarded by now right? I got the Semifinalist Full Tuition Scholarship to Fordham and into the Global Business Honors Program, but I also got the Presidential Scholarship to Villanova University (full tuition, room and board, textbooks, fees, study abroad). I like both schools equally but Villanova is free whereas Fordham is still 15k for room and board. So I am ready to commit to Villanova but just wanted to make sure that Fordham won’t come back with a bigger offer or anything.

Take your offer to Fordham from Villanova and see what they say.

Still haven’t heard from Fordham lol

I live literally like 10 train spots from LC and I have not even received a postcard…

The suspense is killing me but I got into BC!

^^^ then call the school. Something is wrong. Everything mailed at the latest last week.

KTcollege: I sent a second email of appeal, noting that yet another school gave my D more merit money than Fordham did, and I got an automated response with an on-line form to fill out, saying that said I would hear back in 2 or 3 days – that would be the middle of this week, I guess, but the holiday may have thrown things off. She got better offers from 4 other schools, one of which is probably more elite than Fordham (Sarah Lawrence).

Thanks My3. I had received an automated reply with an incident number when I sent off my email a few days ago. Her package came today. I sent another requesting a form just now (offices might be closed). I received another automated reply, but no form. There was a link however, to update my question if I needed to. My daughter has 3 higher offers…but schools are not as selective…but offers are over double what Fordham offered. One from another Jesuit school, and one (over triple the amount) from another private school. She is down to two good choices, so I don’t think she will be too disappointed…she just likes the Fordham location better!

Yes, kt, we also got the package over the weekend, and it was the same amount as previously offered, except that it said she had to maintain a 2.75 rather than a 3.0 to renew the Jogues Scholarship and tuition award. I kind of doubt they will come up from $13,800 to $21,000 to match Sarah Lawrence. Her highest award was $26,500 from a lesser known private school. Fordham offered her the least merit of all the schools that offered merit aid.

Well, got my answer, just after I typed the above. Fordham “does not compete with other schools” in awarding merit aid. : - / We don’t qualify for need-based aid, so the award of $13,800 would be it.

Well thanks for the heads up. I’m sure I’ll be getting an email soon enough. My D only got $6300 and I think we’re in aout the same income range as you are, so there we are. She is up there now with my husband and will attend admited students day tomorrow. Right now she’s leaning toward Hofstra which she liked from the beginning…terrific study abroad options and loved the dept. Chair of her major when she met her. The gave her $20K per
year. She’s always been in Catholic schools, so that will be missed.

My3daughters:

If you dont qualify for need based aid, then does it matter? Or is the prestige of taking the highest offer the determinative factor? Just asking.

I cant comment on other schools, but will say a Fordham education means something and is powerful in the workforce. I sincerely hope you/she can accept the offer, even if it is not equal to the others.

If I can help, ping me. Best wishes. Sov.

ditto for Kt.
