Got my package tonight, 12.5k Loyola Scholarship per year. Didn’t think I’d get any aid originally so was surprised!
My son received an formal acceptance letter today. He was admitted EA and offered a $20K Dean’s Scholarship. In today’s letter they upped the Dean’s Scholarship to $21K and additionally offered a Tuition Award for $13K.
Fordham has become a strong contender!
Dream school is Georgetown, but he was deferred EA. Not expecting to get in.
Super disappointed. Thought a Jesuit school would do better. Total aid Loyola scholarship and a grant for a total of 30,000. For an income under 90,000 obviously we can’t spend 50,000 on tuition. Clearly only a school for rich kids
Received my package. $27K/yr and Ingram Business Honors program.
how did that compare to your net price calculator?
how did that compare to what you figured out on the net price calculator?
Fordham RD came out.
Was deferred for CS initially (yield protected I’m pretty sure) and was admitted today.
Financial aid isn’t looking too good with a whopping annual fee of 51K.
I found their financial aid office very responsive. If your kiddo has Fordham high on the list, it may be worth inquiring about additional financial aid. It’s also possible they haven’t finished doling out all financial aid yet.
Gotcha, do you think they’ll drop 51K to a range between 35K and 40K? I like Fordham (I am the kiddo, haha) but I have great in-state options like NC State and UNC that are tough to beat.
Gotcha! From what I’ve heard, you want to be as specific as possible; so yes, mention those numbers! Tell them you’d appreciate it and make a case for why Fordham would be an excellent fit for you and that finances may be the only reason holding you back from attending.
Awesome, I’ll do that! Thank you for the help!
Does anybody know if the honor program information comes with admission letter?
Current Fordham student here—
Ask for more than you probably need. People usually ask for an extra $1-5k and have received more than that. I know quite a few who have received roughly $10k, so it is worth a shot.
May I ask if you called first or emailed? Fordham is my daughter’s top choice, but we need more aid to make it doable for sure. Thanks for your help!
I would call their financial aid office and ask about next steps for your daughter. They have a team of people who were answering calls in their financial aid office after a financial aid talk for accepted students last week. I was very impressed with their willingness to work and speak with families, as the majority of the questions/requests were from families in the same boat (wanting to attend but not getting any/enough financial aid).
Thanks for your thoughts! It’s such an appealing school, and it’s so wildly expensive…fingers crossed we can secure more. This whole figuring out college process just goes on and on!
