Getting a good rec. from my guidance counselor

In your honest opinion, do I stand a chance at getting admitted?

Also, do any of you know if English is a popular major at Fordham.
And are there internships available?

I will also be applying next year (ro Rose Hill however) and also an english major. Our UW GPA’s are the same, i’ll have about 6 AP classes and some honors. All math/science were regular.

My ACT was only slightly better than yours and I took the SAT once - math kills me and my math SAT was incredibly poor. Reading/writing were 630/600. I’ll try again in the fall.

To be honest, I think Fordham is a pretty big reach for me. Admissions are getting more difficult.

My top two choices right now are Providence College and Loyola. They are both test optional so that may help. However, my reading/writing SAT scores are at their 75% but math is below their 25%. So, not sure whether to submit or not.

Hey guys! I think I might be able to help. I was admitted off of the waitlist for the Class of 2015. I took all IB (similar to AP) classes and had an 87 (I think that’s a 3.2) average over my four years hs. My SAT was a 1770 out of 2400 and 1190 out of 1600. I got a 28 on my ACTs. I took SAT IIs but the grades weren’t great; about a 550 on each. I was definitely on the lower side of the spectrum of those grades admitted, but I also did a good amount of community service which Fordham really values. So basically, if your grades are better than mine and you are active in your community, you’re in. Hope this helps!

congrats! Did you submit both SAT and ACT? Your ACT is right in the middle of their range, so that helped.

Thanks! And yeah I submitted everything I had. But my ACTs were the only thing in their range. If you make up for it in your average or SATs then you’ll do fine

Your application will be reviewed holistically so write a great essay and package yourself well. Bringing up your standardized test scores if possible can only help.

My S considered majoring in English (double with Playwriting) and he is at LC…he loved the two classes he took his first year. I don’t know what internships are available but I’m sure there are some that would interest you. Good luck! :)
