Fordham Is My #1...But I'm Nervous!

I really want to go to Fordham. I visited there earlier, and it just felt like a perfect fit and, based on everything I have heard/read about it, it just seems like the perfect school for me. However I know it's getting more and more competitive and by the time I apply (next fall), I am concerned that there is a very good chance I won't get in.
Here are my stats, so far:

GPA: 3.6
SAT: I don't take it until May, but based on practice tests and the PSAT, my predicted score is 1300 at it's lowest. I am estimating it will be close to that, just because standardized tests aren't my forte.
ACT: Also have not taken it yet, but based on practice and the PLAN test, my score is estimated to range from 18-22. I know, it's not good at all. But like I said, I'm really not good with these kinds of tests and I pretty much bombed the math section.
SAT IIs: I've only taken the Literature one and I got a 580. =(

I currently take only 1 AP class (AP Comp) but next year my schedule will have 3 AP classes and 1 honors class.

Last semester I had straight A's, with a C in math and it looks like this semester will end up the same. I get good grades, it's just math that is really challenging for me.

Work experience: Retail and tutoring. I am currently a part-time editorial and print model for a local agency but I'm not sure if I should include that information.
*I plan to do a job shadow this summer.

Volunteer work: on alumni panel at my old school and I frequently volunteer there. I plan on doing volunteer work this summer. I also did volunteer work at an elderly home in 9th grade.

Essay: I am passionate about English and could probably write a good essay.

Letters of Rec: The teachers who will be writing them for me will be able to write them well and with enthusiasm for me.

I want to interview at Fordham next fall and I think I could get the point across just how much I want to be part of their school.

Any advice or comments would be really appreciated, as long as they're respectful as this is a very sensitive issue for me!!

Thank you in advance.

what campus are you applying to? interviewing would be a good idea.

I think the very best thing you can do is to not force it too much, it just creates added pressure which you dont need right now. Just do your best, and dedicate a little more time in the areas that you may be weak. An interview will certainly help. Check out the SAT prep books, they really do help.

I talked to a Fordham rep when he came to my school. I am very similar to you trans- overall good grades, just trouble with math. I asked him if he thought an interview would be helpful to me. He said, no. He said they interview like 3% of people that get accepted or some ridiculously low number. He said that interviews ofcourse could help, but they aren't exactly popular at Fordham U. I can see them becoming more so, as the school is getting more competitive year by year. I say your best bet- work on your math grades. Continue to excell. Keep up with the EC's and Volunteer work. And SAT prep book like AMIL said. That will really help you- but you think you're going to get around a 1300? Avg Fordham SAT is like a 1200. I think you have a great chance. OH and APPLY EARLY. So you're not waiting around like I am to find out if you got accepted. Goes to check mail at 2pm :-\
Good luck, take your time with your essays and.. relax!

I agree with LaNewYorker 100%, couldn't have said it better myself.

yeah I agree with LANewYorker. ... EA is the way to go.

Thanks so much guys, for all of your help, I really appreciate it!

I think he means 1300 out of 2400...which in that case you should definitely study. If you truly believe that you are a fit for your number one than you should be motivated enough to prove it to them and yourself by getting the best score that you possibly can! Good luck!!

My PLAN estimate was in that range and I got in with a 28 (after a couple shots, though). Apparently PLAN is out of 30 and not 36, which is something to take into consideration.
