Fordham Transfer Students Fall 2011

allison that is frustrating!! but like, when were they going to call YOU and say ur missing stuff u no…
im sorry :frowning:
im gonna call tomorrow to make sure they have my stuff

I don’t think that’s the case of them not being official if they were not sent from my current university or my high school. I spoke with someone from the Transfer Admissions Dept. and she said I can fax over another copy that I have of each instead of taking the time to mail them yet again because they clearly lost them. Hopefully then I will hear some type of decision soon after that…

hey guys

So I applied for a transfer back in February and still haven’t heard back. When I called the admissions office, they told me that my application was complete and I should be hearing “anytime now.” That was in March. I called last week and the admissions representative on the phone was concerned that I hadn’t received an admissions decision yet because I should have gotten it by now. She gave me Kara Stone’s email and so I sent her and email, only to have her tell me that I should hear in early May.

…I don’t know if anyone’s in the same boat as me, but this sucks! I have to let my other transfer schools know by May 5 whether or not I will be attending their school. Fordham is my top choice, but I can’t rely on getting in, only to find out that I was rejected and then have nowhere to attend school next fall.

Anyone else like me??

EARLY MAY! you should have heard two weeks after your materials are in, at least thats what it says on the website.
thats really concerning. what does everyone think

I would get back to Fordham (either phone or email) and let them know the timetable you have for your other schools. I’d also mention that Fordham is your top choice. Good luck.

i just called fordham and they told me that all my materials are in. However, i applied april 1st… so if they r not going to get back to u jenny… imagine how long its gonna take to get to me. im just confused because the admission decision is rolling so you should here after two weeks. I no for sure there are people in this thread that applied in March and have already heard back… so im a little confused.

@JennyLoe I know what it is like to have some schools wanting decisions now and others not giving them to you for weeks. It sucks. I’ve been accepted to a couple schools, one of them Fordham, and I am still waiting to hear from my top choice. One of my schools is telling me to commit “as soon as possible” with no date given. Its terrible not knowing an exact date or something of that matter.

Boston College has notified me that I may not receive my admissions decision until May 31st at the latest. Thats ridiculous. However I think most transfers feel that we are on the same deadlines as Freshman. Luckily I don’t think we are and we have many more weeks however the information and deadlines for transfers is almost non-existent.

NOTE: I am going to a Fordham regional info session tonight in Los Angeles. I plan on asking about transfers and how they usually fulfill the core curriculum. I also plan on asking about internships and how Fordham rates to schools like Drexel or Northeastern who offer the CO-OP program with fantastic internships. Any other questions I may be able to sneak in?

I know what you guys mean. I’m not supposed to hear back from Tufts til June! (which is absolutely ridiculous!) I definitely think that if any of you guys think that you applied early enough that you should have recieved some notification of a decision should contact admissions. It turns out all I had to do was fax my transcripts that they lost. That was the only thing holding up my decision. Just a few hours later, I got the email saying I was accepted with housing. So Fordham clearly doesn’t notify you if they are missing any kind of material so I could have been waiting for weeks to hear from them not knowing that they lost my transcripts.

allison what r ur stats… and i agree yea if your items are lost it could delay ur admission response… but in a case like jenny she has been waiting for so long WITH all her materials in. that worries me that i may not get a response for a very long time.

allison…how did u send ur hs transcripts and college transcripts over night? congrats btw!!
and just sayin… if u and jenny both applied in february… why would they tell jenny early may and you got your decision…

do u think they are saying early may because thats the latest one would hear
Im so confused!

@srivera: My stats are:

ACT:25
HS GPA: 96 unweighted
College GPA: 3.7
College EC’s: Community Service Club Fundraising Committee Chairperson, Sigma Beta Honor Society, Pre-Law Society, Philosophy Club, National Collegiate Scholar, Leadership & Service College Member
H.S. EC’s: 200+ Hours of community service related activities, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Concert/Marching Band
Recieved IB Diploma (and took a few AP courses as well)

I was lucky, I happened to have an extra copy of both at home so I faxed them over. I still have to send the official copies though in order for them to be on my record when/if I attend Fordham in the fall.

@allison – i still feel bad for Jenny! u guys essentially applied around the same time and she was told early may but u were given the decision the day after u faxed ur stuff! isnt that confusing… what do you think?

oh and does ur email/letter say u have to respond with a decision by a certain time?

My letter does not say when to respond by. It just mentions that the first day of school is August 31st.

lefthanded4life-- how do u feel about this whole situation? when do u think im gonna hear back… i called today and they have everything

Alrighty so I got a call from the admissions office today (I put my phone number in an email, essentially asking them why I have to wait so long). I spoke directly with Kara Stone and she told me that I won’t hear until early May because I put that I wanted housing on my application (for Lincoln Center). She basically said that she’s just waiting on the housing department to send me a decision…so I guess that means I was accepted? Otherwise, why would they wait for housing?

But she said if I need to hear ASAP on my decision, I can either say I don’t want housing or I can switch my application to Rose Hill and I’ll hear within a week and will most likely get housing there.

I think I’m going to see if I can get an extension on my decision for my other schools…do you think that they would do that? Because I really, really loved the Lincoln Center’s campus atmosphere (despite what some people have said about it) and I want housing. I think I’m also going to call housing and beg and beg that I need housing (my commute would be about 15 hours…I live in Milwaukee).

I guess we’ll just wait and see…

Which campuses did everyone apply to?

i applied to LC too… now that makes me nervous that they are running out of housing offers. I called today and they said they have all my stuff and i should hear soon… jenny… did u call again after u got Kara Stone’s email? or did she call you? I just dont no how long i should be waiting for… at least you no now what is holding up the decision

I just got back from my accepted student regional reception. Quite impressed.

@srivera If everything has been submitted and they say they have received it than I would hope the decision would be made rather soon. Tonight I found out that I was part of the first round of acceptance letters for transfers. I don’t know when I have to declare but when I receive the info in the mail I will keep you posted. My understanding from what I heard tonight is that I have to declare rather quickly. After that I’m sure they will run the numbers and send out more acceptance letters accordingly.

Also, the LC campus is mostly apartment and suit housing. There is a limited amount on both campus’ but RH has much more housing because of the new dorms that were just built. I applied to RH b/c thats where the business school is primarily located and so I guess I got a bit lucky from that stand point.

Like I said, once I find out the date I have to declare by I will let you know. I assume they will send out a second wave of acceptance letters after that and hopefully yours will be included.

Good Luck

well lefthanded4life… if the admission process is rolling… why would there be waves of admissions you no? like wouldnt they do it by student who submits?
