@SgFriar2015, I’m referring to the Forbes top college list. Good luck in your admission! I think deferred applicants have good shots generally. I hope everything works out well for everyone

@Sk0809 was the merit scholarship in the letter or did you have to login to the financial aid section? BTW, congrats to your D. My D was also accepted so we are working out some details. TIA
Rejected, not deferred. He had a 1410 SAT as well!
@5678abc he was rejected not deferred and had a 1410 SAT.
I was admitted with a 1410 SAT. I think the reason I got in was because I am very involved at my school and I had a strong personal essay.
On another post somebody indicated that they spoke to admissions…the EA applicants who already heard about merit are in the top 10% of the pool of offers. The rest of us will have to wait until Feb 1 ish.
@jdmazdbacks Wow, that is really weird. That’s the kind of thing that makes people go crazy over the college admissions progress - some really arbitrary things seem to happen. Even if there was something else that contributed…like maybe he didn’t take honors/AP courses, I would have thought he would have been deferred and not rejected. Strange
Kind of late but accepted EA on 12/15/2017. 3.7 UW and 4.0 W GPA. 1410 SAT. This news was pretty great after being deferred by Boston College at Early Action. Pretty excited but still waiting for a lot more schools and FA decisions as well. Congratulations to everyone!
@5678abc yeah definitely weird. I heard a lot of people got rejected/deferred who thought it was a safety. I think they’re one of the schools who are truly looking at the full package rather than just straight numbers.
@jdmazdbacks Could be- but it’s not like there was an additional essay or question that would give them a better chance to get to know the individual or for the individual to convey interest in the school. But you are right, maybe activities/community service etc are very important. My daughter just got deferred at another catholic school that isn’t as competitive as Fordham or other schools that she got into. (and where her stats are higher than last year’s 75%) Although she liked Fordham more, this one was a close second and she had gone out of her way to stay in touch at this place…visited twice, interview etc. You just never can tell.
So what’s the deferral rate? And how many of them get accepted later on?
scholarship information for me was on my acceptance letter on the application portal.
Rejected with 3.7 UW, 4.0 W GPA and 25 ACT.
I received the acceptance and aid info at the same time and applied EA
@cinedude55 Sorry for you. Hang in there.
I got accepted on December 15th with a National Merit full tuition scholarship. Does anyone know when the Presidential Scholarship is awarded??
