Hello, im a HS Senior on Long Island and BU is my top school with Fordham (and then American) coming in second. Im looking to major in something business-related and both of them have highly regarded business programs but recently ive seen a lot of people ragging on BU and im not sure if thats really the "better" school of the to anymore...

-This may seem shallow but which one has a better reputation? Which one is more higlhly regarded by people outside of my general Northeastern region?

-Does Fordham really have a bad student life? Thats what a friend who went there told me!Also heard that BU has much better dorms than Fordham

-Fordham has to present itself with more internships and opportunities right? I mean although Boston is a good college city, Fordham is in the heart of the finance capital of the country, perhaps the world..

-Fordham is a little bit less expensive (just a little), should it be? Is the education better at BU than Fordham..

My son had a great four years at Fordham in the business school.
-He had amazing dorms all four years (Queens, O’Hare, Walsh, and Campbell). I haven’t seen better dorms on any campus. The one dorm that isn’t great is Martyrs but it is a freshman dorm so worst case you are there your first year and that is it.
-He was always very busy on weekends at Fordham. I do think that Fordham could do a better job of having activities on campus though. Many times he went out with friends in the Bronx or Manhattan. But the school’s football and basketball team are showing signs of improving which should help out in that regard.
-Fordham is very good for internships.
-Reputation wise I’d guess the schools are very similar. Fordham has a strong reputation and many alumni in NYC so if you want to end up in NYC that could be an advantage.
-There are important differences between the schools including the size (mid size v large), type of school (Jesuit v private), location (NYC v Boston).
-I don’t know for sure but I would guess that Fordham has a much more extensive core curriculum than BU would. My son got a lot out of going through the core at Fordham.

In the end pick the school that feels right to you – I’m sure that you can do well out of any of your choices.
