Fordham wait list 2021

Hi, so I was waitlisted RD after being deferred ED. I was really disappointed to be waitlisted, but I’m happy it wasn’t an outright rejection. I also applied to Fordham University at RH. I just wanted to know what my chances are off getting in off the waitlist and what I could do to improve my chances? Thank you!

Fordham had ~ 44% accept rate of the 44,500 applicants for the class of 2020. With the accept rate they expected to have to have a yield of ~11 % (2154 freshman) to fill the class. Fordham in the past has limited number of people pulled off the waitlist.
See past thread.

The one thing you can do is to send a letter of continued interest to admissions. You can let them know 1) that you remain very interested in attending Fordham 2) update them on any new awards/achievements since your application if appropriate 3) let them know why you particularly like Fordham and/or what you can bring to campus and only if it is true you can add 4) “If accepted I will attend”. Keep the letter short and sweet – a paragraph or two at the most.

I was waitlisted too

My daughter in same boat as you, went from EA/Deferred to Waitlisted. She spoke with admissions and after
decided not to accept her waitlist spot. Funny, Fordham RH was the school that she and her counselor felt she would get into, not a safety, since her other 2 fav’s were somewhat of a stretches.

When we toured last spring everyone in our group, said it was their safety school. My daughter was very rattled, that no one intended going there.

She ended up getting into her stretches, which made not accepting the waitlist a lot easier. She is going to BU, which was her number one from the start.

FYI, at her admitted day last week, of the 5 kids she met, 4 of them went from deferred to waitlist at Fordham, one was accepted and a minority.

Do not let this crazy college stuff define you in anyway it is such a numbers game.

Best of Luck!

Your chances on getting off the waitlist depends on the program’s size. Lets say you applied for Engineering, if there are people who got accepted to say Engineering and decides to not go then your chances will increase. However, if Fordham has extra spots in history, they wouldn’t accept you as you are on their waitlist for engineer.

If you want to try to improve your chances on getting off the waitlist then you should try to email them a really strong interest letter telling that they are still your number one school. Call them and ask what made you fall in the grey area and what you can do to improve your chances of getting in.

I was also waitlisted at Fordham for some reason this year, idk why, maybe they are getting more competitive; yet I got into Northeastern, NYU, BU, and Brandeis. Colleges are so unpredictable these days.

My D’s college acceptances have been really unpredictable as well. In at BU & Fordham…not at Northeastern…go figure.

Has anyone heard back about the waitlist yet? My D is still waiting…

yes. Heard back last week, got into fordham LC

Congratulations @fordhamb0y12 !!! How did they let you know, through your portal, or email, snail mail?

they are not accepting off the waitlist this year.

They offered me another wait list

Same with my daughter–extended waitlist, with a decision before Aug 1.
