Fordham's business school-how is it?

I've been considering applying to the business school instead of A & S for economics, and I was curious how people like it.

-How are the professors? I know they vary, but in general do they do a decent job of teaching?
-Do many students get internships? I hope the proximity to Manhattan opens up doors, along with the Fordham name.
-Is the business school much better for economics than A & S?

I think the business school is decent. I graduated in 2008. I think the faculty can be a little better as far as prestige/reputation. I think Fordham needs to do a better job of recruiting more accomplished professors (like NYU/Columbia). As far as teaching goes, they do a very good job- that is one very good aspect of Fordham. Teachers here are more teaching oriented than research oriented and the average class size is about 20-25. Your logic is absolutely accurate - the proximity as well as the name of the school helps the students very much, and students as a result get internships very easily. With the bad job market, I do not know exactly how badly the recruiting has been affected, but many of my peers had internships when I was a sophomore/junior (mostly with Merrill Lynch, JP Morgran, Citi, and the big 4 accounting firms). The big 4 accounting firms along with Chase and Morgan Stanley have a heavy presence on campus as far as full time recruiting is concerned. If you keep your grades up (3.5+) and stand out, you are almost guaranteed an offer upon graduation. You cannot compare business school with A&S in terms of economics. Generally, at most schools, economics in the school of liberal arts tends to pure economics and harder. If you attend the business school, you’ll have to take business economics, which has far less requirements in order to graduate (the classes nevertheless overlap and taught by same prof). So the only difference is that as econ major in A&S, you’re taking more required classes (about 4-5 more I think but you should check). I would say apply to the business school if you want to have broader options when it comes to applying for jobs upon graduation, because everyone from deans, the department, networking events and programs, are just tremendous. Most people at Fordham are jealous of the business school students because not only are they regarded to have the easier curriculum but most of them are the ones that end up with a job
