Collegecrimemap, I have seen you push folks to your link a couple of times now. I understand your desire to increase hits to your site, but what is your real goal?

The College Crime Map is, in my opinion, vague and misleading. Otherwise, I agree with what has been said so far about security. Perhaps a good way to put it is that you don’t need to be AFRAID in Fordham’s neighborhood, but you do need to be CAUTIOUS, and that goes for pretty much any urban area in the country. What does this mean? Don’t take a wad of cash out of the ATM at 3am; don’t walk around flaunting your smartphone and expensive jewelery; maybe in your first year or so, go out in a group at night … pretty much what’s already been said. It is true that the Bronx used to be very violent and rampant with crime, but those days are over. Now, it is, in my opinion, a really awesome place to eat, shop, hang out with friends, volunteer, etc, etc.

As a final note, an interesting statistic: The Rose Hill campus and neighborhood had about a dozen security incidents last year, and there approximately 6,000 students on campus. That means that the crime rate with regard to Fordham students is one fifth of 1%…

I just wanted to know that right now campus is just starting to bloom, and if anyone is interested in visiting Fordham, the next 2/3 weeks would be the perfect time to do so!

well, now that this has been bumped…

the tree by Queen’s Court really is gorgeous in the spring. It’s the one you see blooming in a bunch of Fordham brochures.
