What brings me here are people that know me very well. After being at college for one semester in a very rural setting, people are telling me that Fordham is the answer to my dreams. They especially say this because I am seeking a business degree, and have always loved the city, especially New York City. After looking into Fordham, I have to agree that the LC campus looks as if it is right up my alley. Question for you all is, what is so special about studying at this place? I argued that I can just visit NYC on vacations to please my desires, but they insist that studying in Manhattan and or the Bronx would be the best decision I can make at this point. Is this true? Do you all agree with them or is this a bunch of nonsense. I would love to hear from you! Thanks!

Being able to walk to an internship is something my daughter loves about Fordham. The location has been perfect for her. She has gotten lots of experience and has a huge resume.

I think that is one of the coolest things about this situation. Is she Rose Hill or Lincoln Center?

My kid was at RH and took 3 classes at LC and had internships in the Bronx and Upper West Side. Both of which were transforming.

Depending on your interests, there are career advancing internships in finance/communications etc in Manhattan, and NGO/SocialJustice/NonProfit internships for community in both Manhattan and the Bronx. Or do BOTH types of internships. :-)

She is at Lincoln Center. But if you go to Rose Hill, you can take the Ram Van or the subway and easily get to internships also. Or intern in the Bronx, depending on your major.
She just loved the convenience of being able to get where she wanted to go quickly. She could also get from her room to her classroom in just 5 minutes, without having to go outside in bad weather. And no large lecture classes, ever.
Of course, these are just minor things, if you read all the other posts about Fordham, you will read about what a great school it is.

I don’t know if it would be true for you, but I can say it is for my two students. They are living The Dream. They go to Fordham for the school, and love their Rose Hill Campus. Being a part of NYC is a plus, but they would be completely happy there, even if they never went into the city.
They are not alone - Fordham students, as a rule, love their school. There is wonderful esprit d’corp. Students are nice. They are friendly. It can be an easy place to make friends. The learning communities are wonderful. There are many fabulous teachers, who know a large portion of their students by name. If you were to attend Fordham, you would find your peers are smart and interesting. Students who do well work hard. Though many are ambitious, it is not a cutthroat atmostphere. The cirriculuum offers very real chances to learn in the best ways any university has to offer. Rose Hill is beautiful and a nice size, both in terms of acerage and student body.
One of my students saw 5 Broadway plays and one opera this semester. She is currently abroad on an intersession trip – as a freshman. Both are involved with a couple different activities/clubs.
There are people who go into Manhattan frequently, some who never go, and everything in-between. The train to Grand Central is some 50 yards from the Fordham Road gate. You can get pretty much anywhere from there. Two different subways lines are a matter of blocks away – an easy walk or RamVan ride away.
That all said, even those who feel they know you best don’t know what is right for you. Visit! The Accepted Students Day has a student panel that meets with small groups – that can be very nice for getting a feel for your fit.
