Foreign Flicks...

i want to see monsieur ibrahim with omar sharif...right? he is a great actor! i kind of want to see house of flying daggers...is that movie good?

I love the vintage French New Wave films, as well as classical French Films.

For example, The 400 Blows, Breathless, Grand Illusion, Orpheus, and Beauty and the Beast (original Cocteau version) are great!

yes it is with omar sharif

greattt movie.
i especially liked it because he plays a turkish guy
it was touching, really.

well...i def have to rent it now! are u turkish btw?

Amelie is one of my favorite movies. I don't know if it's considered indie or not, though.

you guys need to see the rare real movies that show the black and white of the political and civilian life of the country's inhabitants.

yes indiegal i am turkish-why do u ask

I watch mostly foreign and indies.

Here are some good foreign movies that come to mind:

A Taste of Others (French)
Broken Wings (Israeli)
Yana's Friends (Israeli/Russian)
Life is Beautiful (Italian)
East/West (Russian)

haha...just curious! lol. oooo i wanna see broken wings!

I love the French New Wave films. There's a lot of Australian films that are pretty cool. I watched Piano, pretty long and I don't think it's for everyone. But Picnic at Hanging Rock...very cool. Also, The Celebration [festen]. Probably one of the most unique films I've ever seen and not only because it followed the dogma95 rules. Oh, and Persona, that's a very awesome film as well....I love Bergman. Oh, and a lot of the Kurosawa films are interesting as well like Rashoman or Ran.

Enjoy!

Where do you guys get foreign films?? Our blockbuster has a pathetic collection of foreign flicks, so I usually go to the library, which has a decent amount. But it's not enough!! And I can't afford to buy every film.

City of God
Grand Illusion.

So good

Alphaville - science fiction set in 1960's Paris; Directed by Godard
The Last Wave - Australian; Aboriginal mysticism; Directed by Peter Weir
Fellini's Satyricon

Definitly "Life if Beautiful"! Didn't it win Best Picture? Some other good ones are "The Closet" (man works in condom factory) and "Manon of the Spring." They are both French.
