My son took Italian 1 through 4 in high school, and for his senior year he just finished College Italian, obtaining 6 college credits from a local university (received an A in this class.) Does anyone know if this will fulfill the foreign language requirement?

Probably not. 6 credits will probably transfer as Ital 101 and 102 and so he will probably be in Ital 203 (with me!). UNC requires 3 semesters of a language to graduate. Depending on the major, some people need four.

I’m not sure if he’ll still have to take a placement exam at CTOPS.

Yea I believe all B.A.'s have to take 3 semesters where some (I don’t think all) B.S. have to take 4 semesters. Not sure why. I’m a B.S. Math major and I had to take 4 semesters (of Italian actually). I know they will be dropping that requirement down to 3 semesters for B.S. Math majors soon, but I’m not sure who it will effect.

Actually I’m pretty sure the requirement for c/o 2012 and future classes is foreign language through 204. I know I had to take 204 and I havent even declared my major yet.
