Hi I’m currently a sophomore in high school and was thinking about the courses I wanted to take. However I want to take AP Bio but I won’t be able to take a 4th year of Spanish. I want to go to John Hopkins University or Penn State. Can anyone tell me how may years of foreign language is required for Penn State and JHU if it helps I also want to major in pre-med or biology
Two small pieces of information to assist you:
- Pre-med normally is not a major; rather, it is a series of courses to prepare an undergraduate for medical schools (and for the MCATs). You can major in many disciplines a still complete a fully credible pre-med curriculum.
- I’ll wager you can ascertain PSU’s and JHU’s foreign language requirements as quickly and accurately as anyone else can, with just a few key strokes and mouse clicks.
If you look at the school’s respective websites you should be able to find the information you seek.
And don’t forget that colleges’ foreign language graduation requirements may be higher than their foreign language admission requirements.
Depends on the school, but I know most of the schools I’m going to be applying to require 2 years but recommend 3+
You’re fine with 3 years for Penn State, but JHU would expect 4.
And don’t make this mistake on your future application–it’s Johns Hopkins, not John Hopkins.
