So I know that some colleges(Upitt and UW madison) say that if you take three years of a foreign language in high school you don’t have to take it in college, does the same apply to OSU?
You take a placement test at Orientation unless you’ve taken AP or similar exam.

Not all majors require a foreign language, but you should still take the test - in case you choose to take additional courses and/or to receive credit for the course(s) and/or if you decide to minor in a language, etc.
I took 4 years of latin in high school, I’m going to be a senior in the fall and I’m planning on applying to OSU, but I never took any AP latin cause it wasn’t offered at our school. I’m planning on majoring in microbiology/neuroscience if I get accepted and decide to attend OSU, do any of these premed type of majors require a foreign language?
P.S I’m going for a bachelors of science if that helps
Thanks!
Look at the 2nd page of each for a sample of the curriculum. There’s also a link there to get more detailed information. Neither major requires a foreign language, but I’d still plan to take the placement test for reasons I listed above.

The GE courses are writing, social sciences, etc.But if you receive credit for any level of Latin, it may count as an elective. I’m not familiar with the college of Arts & Sciences and GE requirements, but you can look here (although it may be a bit overwhelming!!) http://artsandsciences.osu.edu/sites/artsandsciences.osu.edu/files/BS%20GEC-R%20SP13.pdf
Good Luck!
@firewarrior456 They have everyone take a placement test at orientation. From that, you can receive no credit, credit for level 1 of a foreign language, levels 1 and 2, or levels 1-3. If you have AP credit that qualifies you for more credit than your placement test does, the AP score is valued over the placement test in determining credit received.
Credit for levels 1-3 of a foreign language is required for all majors in the College of Arts & Sciences, Neuroscience and similar majors definitely included (my roommate is a Neuroscience major who has to take levels 2 and 3, I’m a Bio major and tested out of all three—both of us in Spanish). I’m not sure if OSU considers it a GE requirement but rather a separate foreign language requirement of some kind.
