Hey, what is your strategy for studying for foreign languages? (for me, specifically spanish)

I learned the grammar basics, but it is difficult for me to apply them, like on tests and essays.

Thanks to anyone who can help out.

I myself don't study at all. I just pay attention in class and I eventually get the hang of it by the time the test rolls around. I'm sure you pay attention, but, if possible, concentrate harder? I'm sorry -- I didn't help much.

^yeah, that's sort of what I do...

maybe that's why I don't do so well in languages though...

ditto to what is said above..but i ahve a pretty teacher.. that forces us to read and speak french incessantly..esp for hwk

Er...I guess I just try to practice on assignments...like when they ask us to write a six-line composition I'll write eight lines and try to say something meaningful. And on the comprehension questions where they ask "True or False" I won't just echo the question, I'll try to come up with a completely new sentence or an explanation or whatnot. And sometimes I read random stuff online in French...it probably doesn't help much since I don't do it often, but it has made me realize American math education really sucks. So I guess I'm constantly applying the grammar rules.

I suppose part of why I'm good at languages is because I totally freaked out about it freshman year, figuring I'd have to study a language for four years and if I didn't work really hard in French I my GPA would take a huge hit down the road. So go back in time :)

Look through a dictionary for vocab practice.
