I'm a transfer student and plan on transferring after the 30 hrs needed. For UT, 2 years of foreign language are required. You can send in a high school transcript to show that you took them. However, UT grades only transfer with C's or higher. Does this apply to just college transfer hours or is the high school foreign language grade accepted as long as it was a passing grade?

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school but I think that I got an A,D,&D. Would I have to retake one year at my college?

That's gonna be a huge problem. I took 3 years of Spanish and don't know how to say a sentence! I got an A in Spanish 1, so I'd have to start at a higher level without knowing anything! I hope they'd accept the D.

I'm also not 100% sure if these were my Spanish grades, just basing it off of memory. There may be a year when I got an A in one semester and D in the second.

I actually didn't know that high school foreign language counted... thats SO awesome.

Yeah for UT, you just send in your high school transcript and the foreign language counts. But still don't know if it counts if the grade is a C or below.

wow, if UT was my first choice I'd of def. dropped college french II lol

When you get to the new college/university, ask to take a placement test before enrolling in the foreign language class. That way you will have a better chance to end up in the correct course. If your grades for 3 years truly are A, D and D, you may just want to start with the beginning level class or try a different language altogether.
