<p>If the colleges you are applying to only looks at the math and reading scores, can you just write a bad essay and guess on the whole writing section?</p>
<p>Not a wise move. If you half-a$$ it, they're going to see that in your score. Definitely a negative on your app.</p>
<p>Definitely a bad idea. Imagine, how would a 750 or an 800 CR and Math look next to a 500 or 450 essay. Even though they don't look at it, i presume they would definitely have second thoughts.</p>

<p>If the differences are stark, even the ones who officially state that they do not take it into consideration would definitely have some reservations.</p>
<p>Well, isn't this the third year it's been around? I would imagine they're considering it more than they did the first year, when lots of schools ignored it.</p>
<p>I basically skipped it for the PSATs, it wasn't my smartest moves. Just try your best on it. At least I can increase my score a few hundred points from my PSAT easily.</p>
