Well, I’m freaking out right now. At my community college, when you meet with a counselor, you get 1.0 additional units on your transcript, which is treated as an “Orientation” course, even though it’s not an actual class that you register or sign up for.
It’s a pass/no pass “class” (which I passed just by meeting a counselor) that has 0.00 quality points so it doesn’t affect GPA, and it also does not transfer to CSUs or UCs (and probably no 4 year for that matter) and it was added onto my transcript sometime after Fall 2016 (but was included under Fall 2016) and since my transfer update was completed as soon as it was available, I wouldn’t have been able to include those units if I knew about them.
I barely noticed the units today, and I just contacted UCSC, and the admissions front desk told me that it might affect my acceptance, but they told me to contact my specific transfer counselor, and I’ve already sent an email to them.
Do you think my acceptance will be withdrawn, and if so, is this a situation where an appeal would help?
@Sakorn Don’t worry about it. Whoever told you it could affect your acceptance is a loon. One unit for simply meeting with a counselor that is not even transferable WILL HAVE NO AFFECT. A lot of times students answer the phone. That response takes the cake for nutjob responses.
Finally got connected with my admissions counselor and she told me that there may very well be issues since the “acceptance was based on information provided on your original application.” She said that any new information, regardless of how insignificant I think it is, does play a role in the admissions process, and the fact that I didn’t submit it is a serious error. Finally, she said that she doesn’t know if my acceptance will be rescinded, and that she can’t guarantee anything.
Well this is great. I already declined my offers to other schools, too.
I’m still saying don’t worry. They don’t like to say it will be ok if the committee then says you aren’t in. Although this is so minuscule as to be a nothing. Did you write in your explanation it was simply for meeting with a counselor? I swear to God you could sue if they rescinded you over this.
@Ohm888
Yeah, I specifically told them that it was just for meeting with a counselor for orientation. They told me to wait a week for any emails regarding my admission status.
@Emsmom1
I don’t know, but I did know a girl who got rescinded from UCB because she forgot to include a class that she got an “A” in, on her application. This is a bit different considering it’s 0.5 non-transferable, non-GPA hour, units. I’ll just wait it out, I suppose.
