I briefly attended ucr for 2 quarters (fall '07 and winter '08) and because of personal reasons, did very poorly during my time there. I am currently attending a community college. Since it has been a few years since I attended ucr, it hadn't dawned on me until recently that those grades will most likely affect my chances at transferring to a university. I plan to apply to ucd, among other schools, in the fall of this year. How will my gpa be affected by those grades on my transfer application?

I don’t know just how poorly you did, but this may have some useful information: [Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog - UC Nitty Gritty Transfer-y](Error)

Depending on how poorly you did at UCR, those grades may negatively affect your chances. All of the grades you earn in UC classes are transferable between campuses; i.e. you are stuck with them forever. This WILL lower your UC GPA without a doubt.

If you got a couple of C’s or maybe a D, your chances may be negatively affected, but it’s not impossible to transfer to UCSD. I think they will take into account how long ago that was and maybe overlook those grades. If you have been getting amazing grades since then, it shouldn’t be much of a problem. However, if you did not leave UCR in good standing, you are not eligible for transfer admission to any of the UC’s. You can’t even be considered in that case. If that has happened to you, you might want to call UCR about reinstating yourself as a student there to fix your GPA.

Thank you for the replies.
