Foster School of Business Running Start Transfer

Hello everyone!!

I wanted to post this chance me discussion to ask about my chances at being accepted into the Foster School of Business and UW.

I am a running start student that will be graduating from high school in June of this year 2017 and graduating with my associate in business (AB) in the fall of this year. I currently have a 3.5 college gpa but have calculated that if all goes well I will have over a 3.8 gpa when I graduate with my AB in the fall. Which is likely, because I don’t have any more hard classes to take. I haven’t taken the SAT test yet (I registered to take it in may) but heard that if you are a transfer student with more than 40 transferable credits UW won’t require your SAT score. I also heard that UW likes running start students, I don’t know if that is true or not but if so would that give me an edge on other transfer students applying? And if not what are somethings I could add to increase my chances of being accepted. Also I started my own landscaping business when I was 12 that is still going. Should I mention this in my application essay?

As far as extracurricular activities go I played basketball(freshman-junior year) and ran track at my high school (freshman and sophomore year). I volunteer for a nonprofit organization. I also am in chess club, and have a part time job. I am also running to be one of my college’s vice presidents.

STATS
GPA. 3.5 now - 3.8 by fall. Graduating with AB in fall.

SAT score: (will know by may)

Extracurricular activities: Sports, volunteer work, chess club, part time job, maybe vice president.

I believe you can only be considered a “transfer” student if you take one or more classes AFTER you graduate from high school. So, you could take another class in the summer and then become a transfer student. Is that your plan?

Yes I plan on taking classes in the summer and fall of this year. I am going to apply to UW and Foster School of Business for next winter quarter (2017-18). I talked with a UW admissions officer and was told that I would be considered a transfer student if I take classes in the fall after I graduate, but if I only took college courses in the summer after I graduate I would still be considered a freshman.

The chances of acceptance to Foster For Winter quarter are very low because last Winter the acceptance rate was 15% (told by foster advisor during orientation), I would recommend applying for Fall because they accept more applicants.
