Ok so in light of the housing applications coming very soon, I have basically gotten my decision down to my top 2 choices of Founders and Hayden. I'm not sure which one to choose as my top choice though. I've read all these different websites about the advantages/disadvantages of each. Which one do you think should be my top choice and why?

fireman144,

Please clarify what it is that you are looking for specifically. It is hard to say except for what has been shared already. Did you just read the NYU dorm thread on this page?

For instance, are you a person who likes to roll out of bed and get to class in 5 minutes or do you like to live farther away from school buildings so you do not feel too “crowded” in by the school atmosphere all around you (Hayden). Would a 10 minute walk through winter weather (Founders) be a real turn off for you? Do you want a brand new building with great size rooms pretty much guaranteed (Founders), with enough room say for musical equipments for a band? Do you like to be near Union Square and cheap eats nearby? Do you want to near Palladium with its gym, dining hall, swimming pool nearby (Founders).
Or do you want a dining hall right in the building (Hayden with Weinstein dining halls very close by).

Just some of my thoughts but need to know your own specific preferences.

I was thinking the same thing a while ago and found this. Hopefully you can find some answers here, but they both have their pros and cons.

BTW when do the EDs get the housing application?

@evolving:

That was the idea of my question. I’m saying I understand what students believe are the pros and cons about them. I don’t really have any personal preferences or hobbies that REQUIRE a specific dorm. What I’m trying to say is something like: Does the rolling out of bed in 5 minutes outweigh the benefits of Founders (big rooms, amenities, etc…), or is the long walk just not worth it? If I didn’t make it clear, my question is, are there some benefits of one of these dorms that outweigh the other and therefore would be a better choice?

Thanks for the link. I did find it pretty useful. I believe housing applications go out sometime before the end of March. I’m not sure about the exact date though, so probably within the next week or so.

I guess the biggest difference between the two is that Hayden is an older dorm but has the best social life due to the fact most of the building is inhabited by EDers and that founders is a brand new building with nice and big rooms.
