Franz Ferdinand!

I'm going to see them tomorrow!
Eeek.
It's going to my 2nd Franz show, and my friends and I are doing it full on fan girl style. We're skipping our last period class to get to the venue at 1 (doors are at 8) so we can be at the front. I'm so excited. They're the most awesome band to dance to and look like a complete dork! yay.

I got a pirated copy of the new album, and it's so good, so I'm psyched to hear some of the songs on it live too.

Also, my friends and I all decided we wanted to differentiate ourselves from the throngs of hipsters by making it clear that we're nerds! I'm stencilling one of my friends a shirt that says, "if i could rearrange the periodic table, I'd put elements 92 and 53 next to each other" and on the back it has the uranium symbol and the iodine symbol in a heart (U + I). Another friend is wearing a shirt that says "South Korea's got Seoul." A third will have a "Pedro Lacks Political Experience" shirt in the "vote for pedro" font/color. And then I'm going to wear a shirt with a yearbook-looking picture of Robert E. Lee that says "Class of 1825, Most Likely to Secede" under it.

I really don't know what the point of this post is, but in conclusion, oh man, SO excited!

I'm very happy for you, and quite jealous. I really like their CD, probably one of the few when I don't skip songs. Be crazy and don't give a crap what others think. It's good for you.

I thought he was an explorer...in history?

This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city.....

I saw these guys yesterday at Austin City Limits. Nice concert. They ended with This Fire :)

Those shirts sound awesome...I love Franz - I wish they would come near me.

The "real" historical Franz Ferdinand was the archduke of Austria that was assassinated in 1914, which basically started WWI.

haha, someone's been shopping at bustedtees. those shirts are hysterical.

I only just got a hold of their s/t album, it's groovy. lucky you for going to see them, have fun!

I hate the 'take me out' song and the video clip but I LOVE the umm I can't remember the title but it goes 'the dark of the matinee..' song and vid clip!

I dont think I know any more of their songs..

dcfca: austin city limits? ohhh jealous. who else did you see?
did you see death cab? (assuming your sn refers to them?)

I don't really like Franz Ferdinand... but "This Fire" always reminds me of finishing Burnout 3 while drunk :)

Let's see who I saw:

Saturday

Aqualung
The Frames
the Walkmen
Death Cab For Cutie
Bloc Party
Oasis

Sunday

The Doves
Rachel Yamagata
The Bravery
Arcade Fire
Wilco
Franz Ferdinand

Yeah, I saw Death Cab For Cutie. Probably one of the worst concerts I've attended. I love Death Cab, I really do. Look at my CC Name. I saw them last year in Houston and they were so awesome that I thought they would be one of the best concerts of that day. But they weren't. Maybe it was that 102 degree weather. Maybe it was the fact that many of the people there were camping out for Oasis. I just don't know. But they had little or no interaction with the crowd, they just played their music. It was just a huge disappointment to me.

On the bright side:

That night I was lucky enough to attend Bloc Party's concert and was pretty close to the front. AMAZING ENERGY. I love these guys. They just got the whole crowd to start singing and dancing, it was ****ing beautiful. I felt that they gave the best performance of the whole festival

ahhhh those are all amazing concerts. i'm on a big bloc party/arcade fire kick right now.

thats too bad about dcfc. did they play mostly plans stuff? that in itself could be disapointing. death cab is probably my favorite, but i was reluctant to see them when they came here last time a couple years ago (i ended up not being able to go anyway) because i didn't want a bad show to ruin a good thing and i had no idea how they were live. of course now i'm complaining that they aren't coming anywhere near ohio for their fall tour. oh well.

Vegangirl,

Have you heard of a band called Gang of 4? My friend played them for me when I told him I like Franz Ferdinand. Gang of 4 are the predecessors of bands that sound like FF and Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs. Dunno if this interests anyone, but I like them too.

Hey, I'll have to check out Gang of 4. I've never heard of them, but if they're like Franz, Kaiser Chiefs, etc. I bet they're really cool.

The concert was AWESOME. I got to meet Nick and take a picture with him, plus we were front and center which just way cool :) I had so much fun.

dcfca- I am absurdly jealous of you and all the bands you saw at Austin City Limits! I'm going to see Death Cab next week. I'm psyched to hear the new album live, although I don't like it as much as Transatlantism or some of their older stuff. I really wish that Ben Gibbard would just bust out some Postal Service songs for fun. He'd probably become my number one hero if he did (doesn't take a lot to get on my good side, apparently).

I saw Thrice at school the other night.
