Help! I'm interested in the fraternities at U of I. Can anyone give me their opinion on which ones have the well-rounded guys? I'm interested in intramurals, campus leadership, having fun, meeting girls and keeping my grades up also. Comments?

sigma phi epsilon.

best sorority ever.

hem..fraternity

that's debatable. only join (not pledge) sig eps if you are comfortable with half the guys here laughing at you. you should see their rush fliers, haha.

go to quad day and pick up some fliers and rush as many houses as possible. you have the time and fall rush only comes once a year, i cant wait. get tours of the houses, some are kinda gross, others are pretty nice. As far as wanting well-rounded guys... of course nobody wants to be in the all nerd house or the meat-head house. Just go talk to lots of guys at lots of houses and see how that goes.

Click around there on the sports you're interested in. click "fraternity orange" and "fraternity blue" especially.

Campus leadership is overrated, this isn't high school. through any frat you can join the IFC, though. casually ask the rush chair of the house you wanna join about if anybody is involved in IFC and you might score some points... IFC involvement can really help a house.

As far as having fun, ask who they have football block with. not all fraternities have football block and you can easily knock a good amount of houses off your list on that basis alone. Also ask about their social calendar and who they have exchanges with. ask the hot girls from your dorm what houses they wanna join and you should get a little bit of an idea.

As far as keeping your grades up, thats all on you. Pledgeship is very time consuming so that might give a little hit to your gpa, but it all depends on the house. I have friends who got anywhere from a 2.0 to a 4.0 through the same pledgeship and it is pretty much all on you to put in the effort and time to get the grades you want. Even if you get a B where you coulda gotten an A without a fraternity, its worth it. Also, most houses have cabinets full of old tests and study materials, so that can help. When I need to go study at grainger, i can count on at least 3 other guys at the house wanting to do the same thing so its cool to be able to do that..

Thanks.... great input and good questions to ask at the houses.
