O and when is rush?

What are the best fraternities? The ones that everyone likes? The ones that no one really likes?

O and when is rush?

..........bump

i dont know much about the different frats. but i do know rush is in fall and i think most of the frats do winter rush but it is much smaller and i dont think many (any?) sororities do winter rush.

if anyone knows anything about the different sororities can you comment on them too.

you can rush in winter and fall. the best way of going about it is to evaluate all the frats in your first semester here, and then rush in the winter or sophomore year.

check out college otr's top frats and sororities list: College OTR: Michigan Greek Mythology: The List (2008) . though it is extremely hilarious and sometimes a little mean/stereotypical, it is pretty much spot on with the rankings.

here's a quick rundown.. from my perspective. i don't mean to offend anyone. these DO follow the stereotypes a bit, but that is really how they are

FRATS:
sae and phi psi - these are THE top frats on campus. they have a huge rivalry and the two don't seem to like each other very much. if you were to think of a typical frat, these would come to mind
theta chi - chill group of guys.. i think they were kicked off campus/suspended but they're still around
fiji - boy scouts of greek life, but dont get me wrong, they throw good parties too
aepi and sammy - jewish frats. next semester aepi is moving to a new house.. apparently really far off somewhere on oxford. that's going to suck
pike and sigep - these are sort of known as the "walk on" frats, as in anyone is accepted. sigep doesn't have a pledge period so they're sort of made fun of, and the guys in the house are like guys who were nerds in high school. pike's are made fun of as well but they throw good welcome week parties
sig and zbt - these frats aren't recognized by ifc but they're still extremely popular. jew frats as well

SORORITIES-
kappa and theta - brunette and jewish sororities. theta is a jewish sorority. kappa used to just be hot brunettes but they are becoming more jewish (but still hot).
tridelt and alpha phi - THE top sororities. the houses are very similar so they have a rivalry as well. the girls are pretty diverse. tridelt is/was known as the blonde sorority but they are accepting more brunettes. both houses have extremely hot girls
sigma kappa, dg, and axo - next tier of sororities - not as hot as the top but still very respected. some good looking girls
sdt - other jewish sorority, not as hot as theta
adpi, dphie - normal average girls

are the frats like SEC frats? i.e. very preppy Ralph Lauren polo wearing, Costas and croakies, conservative?

or are they more northeastern? abercrombie, muscle tees, etc.

nothing against anyone, just curious as to whats at UMich...

It's a mix of both.
