Fraud from Admission to Withdrawal and Ongoing

Background: Upon admission my FAFSA was falsified and the DE sent the loan to the University. Unaware of this, I paid my tuition out of pocket and the University sent the receipts. I withdrew from the University following the University emails about “sign up for your financial aid refund” during my summer class. I never had any Federal Student Loans or received any loan for my classes. The University placed me on Financial Aid Warning, issued me a SAP a month after my withdrawal plus charge me $50 for withdrawing during the summer class. The University posted on the NSLDS: January start date, withdrew date June, half-time enrollment. (There is no loan disbursement date thus no loan.) The Problem: Initiated enrollment in another University; their response was students here usually get a loan. Perhaps, you can get a private student loan. I have had a private student loan; although presently no outstanding loans. I wrote a letter challenging the information and it was changed for about a day or two the information was changed back. What is the best way to proceed? My goal is to teach nursing on an academic level with a doctorate degree.

speak to a lawyer. that sucks, i’m sorry.

I don’t know if your story is clear enough (at least not to me). Who falsified the FAFSA? Can you verify it wasn’t you? Why did you withdraw? Was it related to the supposed loan, or some other reason?

If the first “loan” was a mistake not made by you, you should probably find a way to establish that and get your record clear so that you can go to this next university. Sounds like just sending a letter challenging things isn’t enough.

@kelsmom is a financial aid officer. Re-write your original post for clarity, and send her a PM. She might have useful information for you.

I’m sorry. Maybe it’s simply that I don’t have enough experience in these matters. But I can’t make any sense at all of the OP.
