I registered for the Februrary ACT, but I'm hesitant to list any colleges to send my scores to for free.
Will my scores be automatically sent to those schools? Say I'm unsatisfied with my score; will they still be sent?
Obviously I'd like to take advantage of it because there is no charge, but I'd rather have control over which scores I send.

You will not have the option to see your scores before they are sent out if you opt to send them automatically. If you are applying to a school that is not all that selective, it’d be fine to send scores to them. If you are planning to apply to some schools that require higher ACT scores, I would not recommend that you send them. It costs $12 to send scores, not that much in the whole scheme of college costs. You are likely to take the test more than once, send the better of your scores when you are satisfied with how you’ve done. Some schools superscore, in that case you may decide to send them two sets of scores.

If you choose to send them for free, then yes they will be sent even if you’re unsatisfied. The only way to prevent this, I believe, is to cancel your scores entirely (but I’m not familiar with this process).
I took advantage of the free score reports and it worked out well for me. You have a few days after you take the test to list the colleges, so I would suggest you make your decision then depending on how well you feel like you did.
