Sorry for not scanning tests, but I just couldn't find the time to (I've been busy studying all day!). That site at about.com has been incredibly helpful - it really has everything that you need, but it just takes a while to go through all the material. Here's a good site with vocab quizzes: http://www.quia.com/pages/francais4.html . This site is also helpful for grammar - http://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr/index.html

I thought that the SATII for French was supposed to be easier than AP French...? Or at least looking at the PR book, it seems easier. Is the PR book for French SATIIs accurate though?

Any info on curves? I'm not feeling too great :-/

Overall, I thought it was okay. It was definitely a lot easier than the French test in the Real SAT II Subject Tests book (which I just took last night). There was one paragraph completion question where I couldn't even recognize any of the answer choices - they all started with "m". Definitely left that one blank.

is there a lot of complex grammer on the sat 2 french (w/o listening)? This is my second year of IB French ab initio and im thinking about taking the exam next month - do u think ill be prepared? I think my vocab is ok but all the grammer that we have covered so far is: imperatife, one form of subjunctive, the future's, passe compose,conditionale.. and thats about it. Do you think thats adequate?

^ definately not O_O

I was wondering if anybody here knows if it's better to take French SATII or French w/ Listening?

Well, that was harder than I wanted it to be! Kinda bummed out, but I can always retake, lol.

If anyone here just took the French SATII, how do you think it compared with PR's practice tests?

Ummm... I found the reading sections to be unreasonably hard, but I only have 2 year of French under my belt, so I don't know if I can speak to that.

Well.. can we hear some answers? I think I also got tripped up on the "m..." question. If we someone could explain the stories throughly, that would be nice.

For the grandson and grandmother one, this is what I generally got from it: A grandmother's last grand child visits her every afternoon for three hours. They stay in an old room with a petroleum lamp that only lights a corner of the room. And then more.

And what about the one where the guy is fed up with his job? I couldn't figure out exactly what he did/what his situation was. Did his uncle/father die, and did he thus inherit a lot of money, allowing him to retire? What was the answer to the "'il y arrive' veut dire..." question? I think that's what it was.

What was the deal with the healthy chocolate bars? What were they supposed to cure/heal?

I don't think I understood the last one at all, but I was low on time.

Thanks :)

Oh, and was the one about the software exchange store printed at a ridiculously poor resolution for everyone else? I was squinting to read it...

lol yeah I was wondering if that was just mine or something too.

What's the curve like for this one? What's it take to get at least a 600, lol.

-bump-

I know more people took this... speak up! :)

Fruit Chewy Cookies: Are you freaking kidding me? If you're serious, that's so incredibly rude. A lot of us here (I would think) love French, and that's pretty insulting. There's no need for stupid comments like that.

Anyways, I had no idea what to put for the "il s'y attendait" question in the passage about the guy leaving his job. I just left it blank. Also, for the one about the soccer match, was the author surprised/astonished because of the great number of spectators watching the match?

I second orestes, I love French! I'm so over the anti-French sentiment in this country, lol.

Anyway, I left the "il s'y attendait" question blank too, and I also put that the author was suprised because of the big number of spectators, but I wasn't completely sure about that one. What was the answer to that question pertaining to the exchange ad -- the choices were like donner et something, acheter et something (bad memory over here). Anyone know?

Il y arrive

means like he made it or he got the hang of it....

Millions of people still speak French, it still holds influence even if it isn't the "most studied language". Whatever. Anyone else have opinions on the TEST? ;)

I've learned so much about English by being in French. Almost 90% of English words are related to French words in some way, and you learn a lot about English grammar while learning French. I bet it's boosted my SAT score at least 50 points without studying. Plus it's the perfect stepping stone to Latin. You don't get any of that from Spanish or German.

chewy cookies: I suppose you looked over the part of the post mentioning your posts as irrelevant to the discussion of the French SAT II? I'm not dismissing your right to talk about France and its position in the world, but that would be more appropriate for another forum.

That said, I believe it was "il s'y attend," not "il y arrive"; my mistake. As for the one about the soccer game, I had put that he was surprised that it was broadcasted on ABC, in a country where soccer is so little regarded, when its primary viewers are in time zones that make its watching inconvenient. I might be wrong though.

Anyone have any idea what the score would be for say.. 7 wrong, 2 omits? I'm just guessing that number.
