Fresh start after a series of unfortunate events?

I'm currently attending a CSU, but a series of unexpected events has damaged all my chances of transferring.

Long story short, family found out I was gay, cut off all financial support which forced me to get a full-time job to support myself mid-semester. I wasn't able to attend the majority of my classes and ended up failing and killing my GPA. The next semester I was able to better tailor my schedule to sync up with work but they were all classes unrelated to my field of student.

My college GPA is a measly 2.3, but my HS GPA was a 3.7, with 5 AP classes and a 1960 SAT and 29 ACT. I've been promoted twice in my job in the tech industry and feel like that would help with transfer admissions if I explained my situation, as well as volunteering, but I'm not sure where to go.

Would it be possible to simply say "Screw it" and get a fresh start without my performance at my current school following me to the schools I'm hoping to transfer to, effectively restarting as a freshman that took a 2-year gap year to get his financial and personal situation sorted?

A condition of applying to any other school will be the certification by you, that you are submitting all transcripts. And then they’ll check too. So there’s no “severing” of your past history. That being said, many schools still will take a chance on you. Good luck.

Can you get your old Fs switched to late-Withdrawals based on the family crisis?

Wow, your parents seem like complete jerks. I feel for you. I’d like to think that lots of schools would have room for you in transfer admissions. Best of luck!! :)
