I used to attend BMCC. Honestly when I first started college I was really shy. Didn’t participate or anything and plus I felt like I was going to just make my mother happy, not knowing what I really wanted to do in life. Long story short that was years ago and now that I’m much more mature I finally know what I want to do and it’s becoming an RN. My GPA is 2.1 and I see that in order to join a nursing program you must have above that and good grades in pre requisites. And unfortunately even if you do take the courses over they still won’t accept you. So I wanted to know is there any colleges I can go to for a fresh start or that will let me take the courses over in order to do what I have to do in order to get into the program?
Thank you.
How many years ago? My oldest son did really poorly at a SUNY CC and dropped out after one semester. Last year, another son enrolled there and I saw that it is now offering a fresh start program. If you have been out of school more than 5 years, you can re-enroll and if you get a certain GPA, your old grades can be expunged but you keep any credits you earned.
Check and see if BMCC offers such a program and if not, check out other CUNY schools. Lehman and Hunter are both known for nursing. You might want to go in and meet with an admissions person at your school of choice and try to make your case for starting over.
Thank you for responding and for your help.
I started BMCC fall 2010. Last time I went was spring 2014. I had to withdrawal from all my classes that semester. I wouldn’t even mind moving. Right now I work at the post office and realize I could be doing so much more with life! It’s really not for everyone. Good pay but I’m ready for a career.
