I used CC a LOT when applying to college and I still do today. I feel like helping out with an official thread so I'm open to any questions about NYU (except NO CHANCES please.)

I am a freshman at Stern so I can answer Stern-specific questions and I have a wide range of knowledge about other programs for the most part as my friends are in the other schools. I'm also in Greek life so I can comment on that for anyone who's interested.

Is it easier to make friends at NYU because you’re in Stern (and take many of the same classes?)? At my school, NYU has a reputation for being isolating/ lacking community spirit? Do you feel that this is true?

Eh, Freshman year you don’t take as many Stern classes and even then, there are so many students that it’s difficult to make solid friends from classes alone. Stern does try and make it’s own communities through things like cohorts and Stern only events though. NYU as a whole lacks community and in my opinion, it’s because we don’t have big sports. Sports are always good to rally around and we just don’t have that here. But there are mini communities so like Greek life is a solid community of it’s own. Student government and clubs are also great small communities. Then, NYC as a whole is YOUR community which is a cool way to look at it. Whatever goes on in NYC such as sports or parades are kind of your replacement for big college football teams.
