I was recently admitted to UMD for the spring semester starting in 2017. I am considering doing Freshman Connection so I could be on campus during the fall term. I am slightly confused about how this works though. I understand that I would be taking classes in the late afternoon, but would I still have the same experience as other freshmen? Would I be allowed to participate in club sports provided I can still attend my classes? I intend to major in bioengineering, but was accepted for the letters and sciences program. Would I still be able to graduate in the standard 5 years, provided that I do well on this path? I live out of state, so would on campus housing be guaranteed? Also, if I were to decide to transfer to Virginia Tech in the fall of 2017, could I do that and have all my credits transfer over? My other option is the University of Tennessee. I strongly believe that UMD is a much better school, but if anyone could give me any advice on this, I would appreciate that as well. I apologize for the amount of questions in this post, but any insight that you could give me on any of these questions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
@NCVAhunterjumper - Here are some threads about Freshman Connection. Hopefully, they will answer a lot of your questions, except regarding transferring. You may have to scroll up to the start of each thread.
BTW, you should be able to graduate in 4 years.

Freshman Connection is a NO BRAINER as i have stated in previous posts. Your best bet is to call the advisors - Alyssa or Anne - they are super helpful and make the process so easy. You graduate in the same amount of time. Your credits you get during Freshman Connection count toward your intended major. You are guaranteed housing and i believe you can play club sports but you cannot play D1 Sports. Other than not being to play on the D1 teams, the differences are imperceptible. And, a bonus, when you sign up for your courses with the Office of Extended Studies through Alyssa or Anne, you lock in on your schedule way before the other freshman.
