freshman course load

My daughter is taking 5 courses in this fall:

General Chemistry 104 , introductory Macroeconomics, Writing seminar , Introduction of Anthropology and one social science class , total 16 . Is that too much?

16 credit hours is pretty standard course load. Some advisers will recommend students lean towards 12-14 their first semester (four courses) as they adjust to the rigor of Vanderbilt courses as well as a new social life. She can always drop one in the first few weeks without consequence if she feels like it’s going to be too much for her first semester.
