I am probably leaning on going through year 1 as an undeclared major. My interest is biology, chemistry or another science, but I figured it really wasn't too much of an issue to declare since I have general education requirements to fulfill. I will have a lot of the general ed requirements done as I expect to have about 30 hours of credit from AP exams (AP US History, AP Biology, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Gov, AP Physics, AP Enviro Science).

I was leaning towards taking the following courses in semester 1:

I also would take a 3 hour elective and a 3 hour social and behavioral science course to fulfill a general ed requirement.

That is 16 hours. Is it too much for a 1st semester? Any recommendations on a good elective and good social and behavioral science courses to take? I don't want cake courses, but I also don't want to be overwhelmed in my 1st semester.

That’s actually a pretty average first semester courseload. I’m questioning the enriched physics only because a friend of mine took that last semester and said she wouldn’t go through that again. Just take honors physics with calc or regular physics with calc. I’m not sure what enriched even means…
chm2045L is a joke btw. its honestly a waste of 3 hours.
UFs website lets you search for courses that apply to the gen eds (social, behavioral sciences) so check that out.

hahah landon, that was actually similar to mine (except i tested out of enc1101) and its really not that bad. a lot of engineering majors have first semesters like that and have a sweet social life.

Nah, I’m sure it’s normal. That’s why I decided not to get into engineering haha. All I’m saying if you have the AP credits, you might as well not overwork yourself. I’m Pre-Med, and I’ve managed to take only one lab science a semester all the way up through Junior year. Hey, I’m sure that schedule will work out fine.

I think a major mistake people make in college is that they try and go for it all at once their very first semester, and it hits their GPA hard. My recommendation would be to space it out if possible.

d took the enriched physics 2060 her first semester and got an A in it. She had Furic and liked him quite a bit, better than who she had for 2061 (although, she did get an A in that, too). Best help for that class is a really strong math background and love of physics and math. She took it with Calc 3 and had no trouble doing so. Her honors advisor suggested, however, that since she already had 45 hours in AP credit to not take more than 14 hours her first semester … to get acclimated to campus and find her spot in things, i.e. EC’s and, of course, football games. For her … 14 hours was seriously no sweat; she said she could have done more and still had time for her sorority, etc. BTW, she took 2061 this past spring, but she opted out of the lab, as she already had AP credit for it and she’s not a physics major. So you can choose to do that, too, in the spring if you have the AP credit and you want to complete the sequence.

I am also looking for some professor and course recommendations, but I currently do not know what to major in. I definitely want to stay away from the maths and sciences and focus on social sciences. Any ideas?
