Freshman Dorm Choice: Creswell or Russell

I have thought a long time about this and I really need some help. I'm UGA bound, look at username. I have set my sights on two dorms, Creswell and Russell. Which is better, I want the one which is more social, I'm kinda a partier. I also would like to know the other pros and cons of each or any other halls which might fit my needs.

Also, first post, so sorry if there are a lot of these posts...

They’re basically identical, both are party dorms. Russell’s on a steep hill though, and you don’t have an AC unit in your room. Honestly the living conditions in both are the worst at UGA.

I’m using my mother’s account:
Obamabot is correct. You do pay a price for having a social dorm. That being said, I lived in Creswell and loved every minute of it. There are always going to be tradeoffs; in this case it’s trading the nicer room for a significantly more active hall. As Obamabot said, Russell is a little farther up the high-rise hill and you cannot control your AC because they do not have individual units. However, Russell is closer to the parking deck and has bigger elevators (useful for move-in/out day). Creswell does have individual AC and Heater units, and, for the time being,(they are moving the dining hall a little bit farther in the next few years) is the closest of any dorm to a dining hall. They are both the most social and active dorms on campus.
On a side note (could change), for the last few years Creswell is partly filled with some summer students from a program called freshman college (which I would highly recommend). Therefore, some of the students will know each other ahead of time in Creswell. If you’re a social person this won’t be a problem and can be beneficial. I just wanted to throw that out there.

I lived in Creswell and have a lot of friends who live in both. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Hope this helps!

thanks, I like the social dorm atmosphere. I can trade decent space for that. another question, if I like the dorm life, can I stay in my dorm, Creswell now chosen, after my freshman mandatory year?

It is unlikely that you would get to stay in the freshman high rises after your freshman year especially with a limited amount of rooms available for upper classmen.

Pretty much the same, however, Creswall is closer to dining hall(right next door, no street crossing) and is not on a hill.
