Freshman Dorm

Hey, I’m going to be a freshman next year and I’m split between LSU and Texas Tech. Im going to be applying for housing at Tech soon and i was wondering what are some of the good dorms for me there. Im going to be rushing so if theres a specific dorm that a lot of guys who rush live in, and i don’t want a dorm with super strict guest rules cause I’ve seen that go bad quickly with some of my older friends. I don’t necessarily need the newest dorm but i would like some space, and somewhere i wont have to worry a whole lot if I make a little noise.

Hey, sorry I’m late to this topic. Here’s the answer:

Housing is incredibly limited (despite being required for freshmen) at TTU and so you’re restricted to where you may stay depending on your major. I’m not sure if you’re male or female, but I’m going to assume you’re male. If you’re rushing, the perfect place to be is Stangel/Murdough. I see more frat guys there than anywhere else. However, if you’re majoring in engineering, you’re restricted to places like Sneed which are tripled up in occupants (meaning you’ll be in a dorm built for two people, but there’ll be a total of three people living there including you).

If you’re female, Chitwood would be ideal. It’s an all-women’s dorm, but that’s where most sorority girls reside. There are other sorority girls in other dorms, but that’s where a considerable concentration is.

I’m late too, but it’s a good question.

Triple occupancy is 1st floor only in the movable furniture dorms – Bledsoe/Sneed and Horn/Knapp halls. Also, I don’t think you’re restricted to a certain dorm because of your major. You have the option of joining one of the learning/living communities of your major which are each assigned to a particular residence hall, but other than that you can choose wherever you want to live as long as there’s availability.

As far as strict guest rules… it probably depends on your CA. If you want to make a little noise, you’re best bet is to try to qualify to live off campus

Speaking of noise, does anyone know why Chitwood hall is so popular with freshman?? I’m working on figuring this one out

I am going to join TTU as a freshman engineering female student. I have chosen knapp hall. However, I would like to know that where do people shift during winter break if they plan to reide in the university itself??I am asking this because I am an international student and I have no relatives in US and I am not planning to come back during winter break. Also, I have heard that coleman hall remains open during winter break as well so should I cancel knapp hall and join coleman hall ?? please suggest
