Freshman dorms

I know this is pretty subjective, but what are the best freshman dorms at Georgetown? I have done a little research and my guess would probably be Harbin, but I would love to get some insight from any current students. Also, I am a little bit of a germaphobe; opinions on which dorm is the cleanist/least rundown?

One more thing- I understand that the selection process is pretty random, but I also know that you can list your preference with a reason why you want that dorm. Any insight into this at all? If you want to get into Harbin, for example, is there anything you can say that might actually help?

The selection process is actually completely random - you do not get to sway the decision either way so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. All have their pros and cons, but you’ll find most students end up loving their freshman dorm regardless.

Yes the selection is random. ~BUT~ I just went to the first GAAP weekend and I’m praying for New South! Harbin was my second favorite though. New South seemed the newest (probably because it is) and it had a great location (right by Leo’s and the Healey center) and I’ve heard it’s the most social dorm. Like comment #2 said it’s random, but there’s nothing wrong with looking into it beforehand

PS based on your username I’m guessing you’re a girl, so if you really want Harbin I think you can mark on your LPQ that you want a single sex floor. If you did that you would probably get Harbin since that’s the only single-sex female floor. I think it’d be better to just trust the process, though.

VCW is by far the best as you never have to deal with completely destroyed bathrooms on weekends and drunk people that don’t understand how locks work

If you select that you want a single-sex floor you, will either get VCW (guys and girls) or Harbin (girls). But really, the dorm you get doesn’t matter that much.
