When I go to the CAS reception in april, i wanna visit the dorms especially the U-hall. Is UHall really worth the cost? looking at the pics, it looks really clean and very pretty cuz it's the newest building...

but it seems like it's so far apart from all the other freshman buildings... does this bother u guys who used to live or now currently living in Uhall??

can someone tell us how tall these dorm buildings are? # of stories? just curious, i only got to see one or two buildings when i visited, wondering about the views, etc.

They don't let you visit U-Hall on those receptions. Last year, I was only able to visit Goddard, Hayden and Weinstien.

I am currently in U-Hall. It is not necessarily far away from all the freshman dorms, because for the most part they are all spread out. We are close to a lot of upperclass dorms, including Palladium which is a half a block down (Palladium has a dining hall, a gym, and the career center). It usually takes me like, 10-15 minutes to walk to class, so its not that bad. I really like U-Hall, cause its new and clean and such. And being right in Union Square is awesome, lots of food places and shops nearby.

Most of the freshman dorms are like, 18 floors or less.

on the wikispace it mentions Brittany has a crazy seven person suite on the 16th floor... im sure thats impossible to get but im wondering if anyone has seen it?

the room i toured in goddard was amazing. they had a corner window! im curious as to how we apply for that residential community thing they are doing there, because goddard wasnt an option on my housing form... im guessing we express interest later?

I was always under the impression that Goddard was awfully small - visited a girl there once and the two beds had to be bunked and they just barely squeezed the two desks & dressers in. It was an intense sense of cramped quarters.

I was in Rubin. It was wonderful (except for the crazy elevators, but hopefully those've been fixed).

it's not the 5th ave you're thinking about- you're thinking of 5th ave in the 40s/50s where saks & tiffany's are located. downtown 5th ave is nice but it's not what you would call swanky. rubin's location is basically the same as the other dorms.

i know a lot of you are charmed by u-hall, but i wouldn't pick it as a freshman. it's an apt style dorm and it's in union square- which is awesome, but as a freshman, i'd think you'd want something closer to the bldgs where classes will be held and something more traditional. u-hall would be cool as an upperclassman though.

"what's bad about the apt style as a freshman? is it because there isn't as much "interaction" with the other freshmen?"

yes, i meant b/c of the lack of traditional interaction with other freshmen and also the location. like i said, union square is a fantastic location, but i think i'd choose it as a junior.

i never lived in uhall so i can't give you the pros & cons. my sis lived there the first year it was open- like 8 years ago maybe? anyhoo, even though it is set up like an apt, i remember the rooms being pretty small. but someone else who's lived there more recently could be of more help ;-)
