Freshman Engineers

Do I have to follow that flow chart of classes for my major?
It is just a suggestion, right? (I hope)

My flow chart says I should take a Cat I or Cat II first semester. Problem is, all the ones that fit in my schedule SUCK big time.

So I want to take my diversity credit or something else, and then do the Cat I or Cat II later down the road.

Do you think this would be a problem?

I'm in EE and my flow chart listed that i should take Cat I or Cat II fall semester. I didn't want to take Cat I or Cat II either because I looked at the list and the classes do suck.

I got a 5 in AP Chem so that I got chem waived and that opened up an extra slot on my schedule so I choose to take Cat VI and Writ-140. I took a while to convince my Academic Advisor during orientation to let me do this...-_-

I'm also taking two classes at a community college this summer to transfer into USC and get my Cat I and Cat II requirement.

Some of the Cat I and Cat II can fulfill the diversity credit at the same time, you might as well take a ge course that also fulfills diversity so you kill two birds with one stone.

that's fine. I still have GE's to do that I probably should have done earlier. Just find another class to take this semester. The recommended schedules are only suggestions.

As an engineering major, it's usually good to take a course that satisfies both a GE requirement and diversity, but it's not necessary.
