Can anyone recommend which dorm or dorms are the favorites of most freshmen? Or at least what a rising freshmen should consider in choosing between West and East campus or other factors?

Let’s see…Most people say avoid Glenn and Towers (both on East), and I agree. Those dorms are pretty awful. They’re both all-guy dorms though, so if you’re female, you don’t need to worry about it.

The biggest difference between East and West campus is atmosphere. East is definitely livelier. There’s a lot more people walking around at all hours. It’s a bit noisier. Most freshman are there. It’s also closer to all the fraternities and sororities, so if you’re joining a fraternity or sorority, you’d probably want to live on East. It’s also closer to the North Ave Dining Hall (new dining hall that opened this year, and serves the best food of the three on campus).

West campus is quieter and closer to the CRC (gym). I lived in Freeman this year, and it’s been awesome. The dorms were newly renovated, and everything was brand new when we moved in last fall. If you’re of the quieter type and want to live on West, and if it will be open by then, I highly recommend Fitten. They’re finishing construction next door to us right now, and the bus stop is right in front of Fitten.

Oh…and both are pretty equal distance from freshman classes.

Thanks. That’s helpful.
