Freshman Housing

So I am almost 100% sure that I am going to Northeastern next year as a freshman, though I am just waiting to hear back from a few colleges. I know that the earlier you submit your deposit to attend the school (commitment), the better choice of housing you get. I was hoping that some current freshman or even former freshman could give me a bit of advice on where to room (co-ed floors, nice quality rooms - as best as they get, and floors where you can just walk around and always go into peoples rooms - party-ish?)

thanks,

You can do that in all dorms. They just made International Village last year so that is the best one for freshmen, but it is usually reserved for Honors kids and international students. I’d say go for White Hall if you can, it is the best quality in my opinion compared to Stetson East, West, Smith, Speare. But not really sure if you can choose.

I think most dorms are like you described, everyone is social. My first day at school (I lived in Kennedy), my roommates and I went around to rooms on the floor and introduced ourselves, and had other people stop by our room too. Further into the year there was a lot of hanging out around neighbor dorms, and everyone got to know each other and becomes a little community. Everyone is excited to meet people and make friends, so wherever you go will be like that.

You can’t choose dorms. Of the freshman dorms that aren’t IV, I think the nicest is probably Kennedy (suite style, pretty good location), but it’s more about the people you meet than where you live. I know people who really hated their roommates freshman year, but I don’t know many people who hated living in the dorm itself… you’ll hear people from all dorms rave about how much fun it was.
