Freshman Required Courses at UF

Hello, I was wondering by any chance where I might be able to find a list of courses that UF may require no matter what your major is your first year because I can't seem to find anything. Also, I'm going to be taking a dual enrollment course up where I live before I go down and I was wondering what courses any of the students who are already through their freshman year would recommend I take to get out of the way. Any suggestions guys?

Here is the general education requirements https://catalog.ufl.edu/ugrad/current/advising/info/general-education-requirement.aspx</a></p>

There are lots of classes you can take to satisfy the requirements in different areas, and the exact number of credits per area will usually depend on your major. If you check <a href=“Office of the University Registrar”>http://registrar.ufl.edu/soc/index.html</a> and click on “Gen Ed Courses” under a given semester you can see what kind of classes there are to fulfill requirements.

As for which classes to in dual enroll before you go to UF, my only suggestion is to make sure you take classes that will transfer credit to UF (some classes that don’t have a direct equivalent at UF don’t count)

You will also have to take HUM 2305 (What is the Good Life?) during your freshman year (unless you’re in the Innovation Academy). It’s a new requirement for new freshmen that was implemented in 2012. You should look into that as well.

Gen eds can be completed at any time during your college career, but I say the earlier the better.

As rs0525 said, you hav eto take HUM2305 freshman year, and then you will also want to get probably about 4 of your gen eds done.
If you are in a major that requires only 1 semester of Chemistry/Physics/Biology, and you are not a premed student, I would definitely take one of those. Just make sure the course code for them is the same as UFs. For example, UF’s chem is CHM2045, so if your community college has CHMM1033 that won’t count at UF and you will have to retake it at UF.
You could also take a class that is in a subject area you aren’t interested in, because I found that even moderate level courses become much more difficult to be disciplined and get a good grade in than any courses in a subject area I enjoy.
