Contact the Math department to clarify things and make sure you don’t have to take Finite - that score definitely places you in 211 (it’s quite good, congrats) - will you be taking the AP Calc exam? (that score indicates you probably could handle it with a passing score.)
Do you plan on taking Econometrics and Quant Econ classes?
Strictly speaking, there’s no need to take 211, M119 is more applicable for business, and 211 would only matter if you wanted to go Quant since it can be a pre-req for some upper-level classes (check the catalog).
However, having one calculus class on your transcript and for your resume definitely “signals” something to recruiters so since you’re good at math, plan to take one (hence, 119+).
If you’re told that, despite that score, you need 118, take it at Ivy Tech.
@MYOS1634 still waiting on IUs math department to email me back, but I did contact Ivy Tech and they said that I needed to take prereq courses (algebra and Trig) to 118 and 119 in order to take those or prove they are college level with dual credit. I am not sure how to do this because I took these at my high school and it would be a waste to take them again. Also, I am not really sure what Quant is but I think I may be interested in that. Eventually, I hope to work in a sports front office and those kinds of skills could be helpful.
quant = someone with strong quantitative skills
Can you take Calc AB May - see if your HS can register you for that. It’d solve your problem.
You are still going to have to take finite. Even if you get a perfect on the placement test you still have to take it
What math have you exactly taken in HS that Ivy Tech won’t even let you register for 118?
I have taken College Algebra, Geometry, Trig, and Calc but not AP. They said I need to prove its college level which is what I am working on. Is two classes to much to do in a summer @iubaccounting @MYOS1634
Two classes is fine unless you have other stuff that will take up a lot of time
