any past experiences? pos/neg?
do people usually take one or a couple?
thanks!

oh and is it recommended to take one within or outside of your major?

they're one measly unit each, so take whatever suits your fancy.

(but i've always been of the one-track mind, and wasn't overly interested in things outside my major)

Yes, they're interesting and worthwhile (at least two of my three were). None of the seminars I took were in my major.

I've taken a total of 4 seminars so far (2 in my 1st year and 2 in my 2nd year). They're that damn good. Well, of course, if you choose a seminar that sparks your interest. The purpose of the freshmen seminar program is to give you a different way of taking a course that interests you, but doesn't require a lot of work. All you do is share your opinions and partake in discussions. I'd recommend you taking them because you get to interact with the professor a lot (it's a max of 20 students) and there are a variety of topics for you to choose from.

Yeah, the seminars tend to be worthwhile. Just be wary of some that make you do a considerable amount of work.

At the very least, the seminars will give you extra units which could possibly help you get an earlier enrollment time in the coming quarters.
