[Freshman] Should I drop my Business Economics class if I'm sure I'm gonna end up with a C?

I have until November 10th to withdraw from one class without any penalty (except for a W on my transcript). Although I have an 85 (B) in my Business Economics class at the moment, I’m pretty sure that it will drop down to the C range after I take the second midterm next week (11/2). I scored a 54% (10 point curve) on the first one. The problem sets that we do are the only thing keeping my grade up.

Business Economics is a pre-requisite for my uni’s business school, but I don’t plan on pursuing that anymore. Instead, I want to major in data science; and the class doesn’t fulfill any of the major requirements. It will just count as one of my GERs.

When I start applying for internships next year, would the W be a huge deterrent in getting hired? Do companies even request your transcript when they are looking to hire you? Regardless of whether or not I drop it, I’m positive I’d get at least a 3.4 GPA this semester.
