I am going to start college in a couple months at a public university, but I was actually hoping to transfer to OSU after my fall semester. I did not get in when I applied my senior year, but I want to try again. I don’t know if it’s hard to get in as a transfer and I just want to know my chances. I got a 24 on the ACT and I ended with a 3.4 gpa overall but my gpa senior year was a 3.7. So if anyone knows if my chances are good or bad just let me know please! Thanks!
Your ACT score is a little low, but your GPA is good. If you can rock your first classes and get upwards of a 3.5 or 3.6 I’d be shocked if they didn’t take you. Basically you have to show the transfer application reviewers that you can perform at Ohio State as well as you did at your other public university.
I just got accepted as a transfer student! I’m not sure about whether they accept more or less depending on which semester you transfer into. Which community college do you go to? The best advice I can give you for transferring besides the obvious (keep your grades up) is to work closely with the advisors at ohio state. Alot of my credits didn’t transfer over because some of the classes (mostly my business classes) they want you to take at OSU rather then at a community college. If you have any other questions feel free to askl!!! Good luck!
@HairBear Congrats! And I’m going the University of Cincinnati. The only thing I’m stressing about it that you need to submit your high school transcripts and ACT if you’re transferring with less than 30 credit hours (which is what I want to do) and My ACT is at a 25 and my GPA is a 3.4 and I ended with a 3.7 for my senior year. I think this might be too low but I don’t know… What do you think? Thanks for the help btw it means a lot!
@collegegirl2825 I had around 45 credits when i sent in my transcripts so they didn’t really look into my high school transcript. I think they looked into my ACT which was a 23 so you are well above mine. My grades are different though because I had a 4.0 throughout college. I wouldn’t stress out if I were you as I’ve heard of stories where students are transferring into OSU with college gpas in the low 3s. They must have been doing extra circular activities or something because i find it hard to believe they got in with just a 3.0.
@HairBear Okay thank you so much!
.
I’m trying to do the same thing! I’ve tried looking around a lot of forums to find out if it is possible to get in like this, and found 1 or 2 Reddit success. Also did you take any ccp classes before that you can transfer?
I’m going to start my freshman year of college in August, but I was hoping to transfer to OSU sometime. Does anyone know if it’s easier to transfer spring or autumn semester? Or does anyone have any experience with transferring to OSU (please share anything is helpful)?
@Ogsoudfar I did not take any ccp classes, but if you did I think that will look good on your application. But will you also be a freshman? I want to transfer so bad but idk if my transcripts are good enough…
Thanks, but yes I will also be a freshman. My act is the same as yours, but my overall gpa was a 3.8. I really hope to get in also and I’m also submitting my application today. But your stats look good today hope we get in!
@Ogsoudfar yeah I hope so! I dont know if I should submit my app this week or wait until the middle of September or something and send my college grades at that point (if I am doing well). What do you think?
So I emailed undergrad admissions and they said if you applied for the fall semester your decision will most likely be the same if you apply for spring because they won’t have anymore academic information. so I don’t know what to do anymore…
Did you end up applying?
@Ogsoudfar I haven’t applied yet. I might apply later after and try to send my grades from college to show I’m doing well. but I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Did you turn in your application?
Yes, I already sent in my application. Just waiting for everything to be approved so they can evaluate me! Also, how would you send grades mid-semester as far as I know colleges don’t send grades out until its finalized?
@Ogsoudfar someone told me you can send your unofficial transcripts during the semester. so i guess they can see how you’re doig so far but they can’t really do anything with them except just look at it, if that makes sense. and good luck!!! let me know what they say!
@Ogsoudfar did you ever find out your decision??
It has been 2 weeks since everything was 100 % submitted and I’m still in evaluation. Stressing out a lot, but being hopeful!
@Ogsoudfar I called admissions and they said they changed my autumn 2019 application to spring 2020 but my application still says autumn 2019… what does your application status look like? did you also change your application like me or did you just turn in a completely new application?
